This Tuesday morning (18), Corinthians used its social networks to celebrate Autistic Pride Day, highlighting the importance of people on the spectrum in society and their transformative potential. Furthermore, the club reinforces its support for neurodiversity, diversity, inclusion, respect and the commitment to continue building a welcoming environment for all fans.

"On this important date, Team do Povo remembers the positive impact of people on the autistic spectrum on society and their transformative potential! We support neurodiversity and celebrate diversity, inclusion and respect! Sport Club Corinthians Paulista reaffirms its commitment to building an increasingly welcoming environment for all fans!", said the club.

Autistic Pride Day was established by the international organization Aspies for Freedom in 2005, coinciding with the birthday of the youngest member of the group at the time. The word "Aspie" is an affectionate nickname and form of identification used for those who have Asperger's Syndrome, incorporated into Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The date in question also carries the meaning of seeking a future of greater inclusion and independence for the autistic community, respecting people who have ASD as they are in behavioral, sensorial terms and in the way they communicate. As usual, Corinthians promotes actions related to autism in April, when the cause's awareness month is celebrated - defined by the United Nations (UN) in 2007.

It is worth mentioning that the Corinthians stadium, Neo Química Arena, has a space aimed precisely at people with ASD, something considered pioneering in Brazil. The venue consists of a sensory room that isolates all external acoustics, which are sensitive to loud sounds, something that happens with a high degree of frequency on game days.
