On loan from Corinthians, Félix Torres is called up by Ecuador for the World Cup

Defender Félix Torres, who belongs to Corinthians and currently plays for Internacional on loan, was included in the final list of Ecuador's selection for the 2026 World Cup. The call-up was announced in the early hours of this Monday (1st).

The Ecuadorian team is part of Group E of the tournament and will begin their journey against Ivory Coast, on June 14th, at 8pm (Brasília time). They will then face Curaçao, on June 20th, at 9pm, and end their participation in the group stage against Germany, on June 25th, at 5pm.

Félix Torres remains linked to Corinthians until December 2027, but is on loan to Internacional until the end of this season. The agreement signed between the clubs provides for a purchase option at the end of the loan. Currently, the defender's salaries are divided between the two teams.

The Ecuadorian arrived at Parque São Jorge at the beginning of 2024 after being signed by Santos Laguna, from Mexico. At the time, Corinthians invested around 6.5 million dollars to acquire the athlete. The black and white club holds 80% of the player's economic rights.

During his time at Corinthians, Félix played in national and international competitions before being loaned to the club from Rio Grande do Sul. In 2026, for Internacional, the defender played 19 official matches and scored two goals.

For the Ecuador national team, the defender also participated in the preparation for the World Cup. Before the final call-up, he took to the field in friendlies against the Netherlands, in March, and Saudi Arabia, at the end of May.

The call-up represents another chapter in the athlete's international trajectory, who will seek space in the Ecuadorian team during the main competition between world football teams. Meanwhile, Corinthians will continue to monitor the player's performance, who remains under an active contract with the São Paulo club for the next few years.
