On loan from Corinthians, Félix Torres ends his participation in the World Cup with Ecuador

Defender Félix Torres will not continue in the 2026 World Cup. Last Tuesday (30), Ecuador was defeated by Mexico 2 x 0 in the round of 16 and said goodbye to the tournament. The defender, who belongs to Corinthians and is on loan to Internacional until the end of this season, had a discreet participation in the Ecuadorian national team's campaign.

During the competition, Félix received few opportunities from coach Sebastián Beccacece. The coach's preference was for a defensive line formed by Joel Ordóñez, Piero Hincapié and Willian Pacho, a trio that plays in European football and started the team's main commitments as a starter.

The Corinthians player's only appearance came in the 2-1 victory over Germany, still in the group stage. The defender came on in the final minutes to reinforce the defensive system and helped Ecuador confirm their qualification for the knockout stage. According to data from Sofascore, Félix remained on the field for 18 minutes throughout the competition and recorded a defensive action.

This was the Ecuadorian's second participation in the World Cup. In 2022, when he played for Santos Laguna, from Mexico, Félix started the team's three games in Qatar. At the time, Ecuador finished the first phase in third place in the group, behind Holland and Senegal, and ended up being eliminated early.

Signed by Corinthians at the beginning of 2024, Félix Torres played 80 matches with the black and white shirt. During his time at Parque São Jorge, he was part of the champion squad of the Campeonato Paulista and the 2025 Copa do Brasil, but was unable to consolidate himself among the starters.

With no space in the team, the defender was loaned to Internacional at the beginning of 2026. Before the World Cup calendar was stopped, he had participated in 19 matches for the club from Rio Grande do Sul and was being used frequently.

The loan contract provides for an option to purchase Internacional at the end of the season. Félix Torres has a contract with Corinthians until the end of 2027.
