On CNN, Giovanna Lancellotti remembers a scene from "Dona de Mim": "They stopped me on the street"

One of the most striking characters in the career of Giovanna Lancellotti, 33, in acting was Kami, a role she played in the soap opera "Dona de Mim". In an interview with CNN Brasil, during the launch event for Quem Disse, Berenice?'s "Friends" line, she recalled the role that, according to her, is still recognized by the public today.

In the plot, shown in 2025, the young woman was a victim of sexual violence after being chased by a stalker. The sequence of scenes was a defining moment for Giovanna Lancellotti, and a turning point for the actress to seek personal transformation.

"It brought a lot of learning to me, not only as an actress. It was a sequence of very difficult scenes, all of them very deep, of real pain, of something that happens all the time", she said. "I knew the extent of my responsibility in giving life and voice to that theme in a seven o'clock soap opera. How much this inspires other women to also report it, to encourage themselves and to understand that they are not alone, that this is not an isolated fact and that, unfortunately, it happens."

"It was really cool to be able to leave the screen and continue this topic, delve deeper and be able to join this force and this voice of such a sensitive, important topic that, unfortunately, is far from over", he added.

Because of the repercussion of the plot, Giovanna says that public recognition remains to this day.

"To this day, people stop me on the street to talk about that shower sequence, which was one of the most difficult sequences of my career. And I'm very proud of having managed to touch these people's hearts."
