Olivia Rodrigo searches for an antidote for heartbreak in "The Cure"; look

Singer Olivia Rodrigo, 23, released, this Friday (22), the song "The Cure", the second single from the artist's third studio album. Titled "You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love", the album arrives on all platforms on June 12th.

In the video for "The Cure", Olivia Rodrigo is a doctor looking for an antidote to cure a broken heart. In the song, she also sings about having her mind "poisoned" by insecurities within a relationship. The video is directed by Cat Solen and Jaime Gerin.

On social media, Olivia Rodrigo said that "The Cure" is her favorite track from the album. "It's one of my favorite songs I've ever made. I couldn't be more excited for you to hear it. The pre-save is now available on platforms," she wrote.

The new track follows the single "Drop Dead", released in April, and increases the anticipation surrounding Olivia's new work - her first since 2023's "Guts".

Recently, the star stated that the long-awaited album was strongly influenced by feelings such as jealousy, longing and desire experienced during her first "adult relationship".

The artist - who was dating actor Louis Partridge, 22, when she produced the material - admitted that the main creative challenge was writing romantic songs with a positive tone.

"I think the difficulty for me was writing songs about romantic love in a positive way. When I started making this album, I was very much in love - kind of in my first big adult relationship - and writing a song about happiness is much more difficult than writing about heartbreak," she said in an interview with Audacy Check In.

The singer explained that the project also explores less romanticized emotions of relationships, but reassured old fans by stating that the album will also bring together several "melancholic love songs".
