Olivia Rodrigo reveals how she overcame breakups: "I never learned so much"
Singer Olivia Rodrigo, 23, spoke openly about how she overcame the end of her romantic relationships. In an interview with Dazed magazine, she talked about her maturity and praised the importance of friendships.
During the conversation, she also shared some tips on how to get over a painful breakup: "I'm not 'Miss Relationships,' I'm not super wise and experienced."
"But I think being with your friends is the best [you can do]. I don't know what I would have done when I went through difficult times if I hadn't had great friends." Olivia was in a relationship with British actor Louis Partridge, which reportedly ended at the end of 2025.
Despite the difficulties, the star believes that a breakup can be a learning opportunity. "It can be an incredible opportunity to redirect your life in a way that feels more aligned with who you are. That's a really beautiful part of being in a relationship."
"Even if it doesn't last forever and you don't get married, it's so worth it. You never learn more about yourself than through any other experience." Olivia is well known for writing songs about the topic and said she believes time can help. "I think it gets easier... I don't know, ask me in two years and maybe I've gone through the worst breakup of my life. But I feel like a broken heart will never hurt as much as it did when I was 17."
"The breakup I went through when I was 17... my God, nothing is going to be that difficult. I hope! Maybe I'm speaking too naively. But I feel like with every kind of rejection, whether in love, at work, with friends, I'm taking things less personally as I get older."
"As you grow up and have more experiences, it starts to feel like everything is going to be okay," he added. The singer will release her third studio album, "You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love", on June 12, following the great success of her albums "Sour" (2021) and "Guts" (2023).
