Nun of Saint Catherine may be recognized as a saint by the Vatican
The possibility of a nun from Santa Catarina, Sister Paulina Sens, being recognized as a saint by the Vatican has been debated in Rio do Sul, in the Alto Vale de Itajaí.
The matter was discussed during a meeting held at Hospital Bom Jesus (HBJ), in Ituporanga, on Wednesday (20). The action officially began discussions related to the possibility of opening the beatification process for Sister Paulina Sens.
With a recognized reputation for holiness within the community, the nun now has her trajectory organized and documented with a view to future paths within the Catholic Church.
The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the first steps necessary to organize the cause of sainthood.
On this occasion, the initial steps necessary for the process to advance in the future with the Catholic Church were discussed, such as the collection of the nun's writings, documents, personal objects and testimonies from people who lived with Sister Paulina, in addition to legal procedures to actually open the process.

The expectation is that on June 22nd, the date on which the 24th anniversary of the nun's death will be celebrated, the beginning of the process will be made official with the celebration of a mass in her honor.

Who is Paulina Sens?
Sister Paulina Sens, born in Santa Catarina, died at the age of 83, on June 22, 2002. She was buried in the tomb of the Franciscan Sisters of São José, the congregation to which she belonged, located in the Ituporanga Parish Cemetery.
For five months, the nun worked in domestic services at Hospital Santo Antônio in Blumenau, having gone to Ituporanga for health treatment, where she took up residence at Fraternidade Bom Jesus.
Paulina graduated from a nursing course held in Paraná and dedicated her entire life to the service of health. His work was carried out in Blumenau, Ituporanga, Witmarsum, Presidente Getúlio, most of the time spent at Hospital Bom Jesus, where he worked for 58 years.
