Justin Baldoni breaks silence on legal battle with Blake Lively
Actor Justin Baldoni, 42, broke his silence about his long-running legal dispute with Blake Lively, 38, about two months after the artists reached a settlement. In a video shared on Instagram on Wednesday (8), alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni, 40, he explained his decision to speak out publicly.
"We haven't spoken publicly for most of the last two years. And it wasn't because we didn't have anything to say. God knows we did. But every time we thought about recording a video like this, something told us it wasn't time yet. We talked about it, reflected and prayed," said Justin.
Emily then added: "Now seems to be the time. There is so much to say."
The legal dispute between Baldoni and Lively began in December 2024, motivated by the turbulent disagreements behind the scenes of the film "That's How It Ends", a film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-seller.
At the time, the actress accused him of sexual harassment and retaliation. He, however, denied the allegations and responded with a lawsuit valued at US$400 million. In July, the lawsuit filed by the actor was filed and, in May 2026, they reached an agreement.
"We feel immense gratitude for so many people and for so many things that have happened to us," Emily said in the video. "Gratitude saved us," agreed Justin.
Baldoni's wife took the opportunity to highlight that the feeling will not erase the suffering they experienced. "Gratitude does not cancel out the injustice and pain that we have also felt in recent years. We have had to deal with a lot of things and try to understand how something like this could happen, even more disguised as a fight for women. There is a lot to process."
"There was a lot of trauma for our family to overcome. And that also makes it difficult to talk about it all," he added. According to the actor, they chose to let the courts handle the case, without encouraging repercussions.
"There have been so many hurtful things said over the last few years. It created a lot of noise, and we didn't want to add to the noise. So we preferred to let the justice system take its course," he said.
"The truth and the facts spoke for themselves", reinforced Emily. Regarding the current situation, Justin stated that he is still in the recovery process. "We are healing. If you have ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing is not linear. Every day is different. We had to rediscover what is real and what really matters. Our family, our friends, our community that was by our side, and our faith", he assured.
So far, Blake Lively has not commented on the matter.
