Gun fires after collision between cars and GCM dies shot in SP

A 33-year-old GCM (Metropolitan Civil Guard) died this Wednesday morning (8), after being accidentally shot in a traffic collision on Rua Augusta, in the central region of the city of São Paulo.

According to the SSP-SP (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat), GCM agents were traveling along the street in the vehicle when another vehicle, which was making a turn, hit the police car.

With the impact, according to the agents' report, one of the guards' gun ended up accidentally firing, hitting the victim. The man was taken to Santa Casa, but he did not survive his injuries.

The forensic investigation was called in and the woman's weapon was seized, as were the vehicles involved in the incident. The case was registered in the 4th Police District (Consolação) as a firearm discharge and collision.

The SSP informed that the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated to fully clarify the dynamics of the facts.

In a statement, the SMSU (Municipal Secretariat for Urban Security) regretted what happened and offered solidarity to the family members. The Secretariat informed that the General Inspectorate of the Metropolitan Civil Guard is monitoring the Civil Police investigation, in addition to having initiated an administrative procedure to investigate the facts and adopt the necessary measures.
