US attack hit area near nuclear plant, says Iran official

A US projectile hit the area around the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran this Thursday (9), the province's deputy governor told state media.

The official said several locations in Bushehr, including the perimeter area of the nuclear facility, were hit by US strikes.

There are no reports that the facility was damaged or that the situation altered radiation levels in the area.

In addition, a pier for fishing boats on the coast would also have been hit.

CNN was unable to independently verify the allegations.

The United States military reported no new attacks in Iran during the day on Thursday, after reporting that 90 targets had been hit overnight.

Iran's Health Ministry reported that 14 people were killed and 78 injured in the past two days in American strikes.
