MC Rita is run over after a fight at an event on the coast of SP

Singer Rita de Cássia Silva Nascimento, known as MC Rita, was injured after being run over during a disturbance leaving an event in São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo. The case happened in the early hours of Monday (6) and is being investigated by the Civil Police.

CNN Brasil had access to the incident report, which indicates that a 25-year-old man got into a car that was parked with the doors unlocked and the key in the ignition to escape a fight. During his escape, he ran over two people, including the singer.

According to the investigation, the man was involved in a disagreement with concertgoers over issues involving women. Also according to the police report, during the confusion he claimed to be a member of a criminal faction, which intensified the attacks against him.

In an attempt to escape, the man got into a Volkswagen Golf belonging to another person, which was parked next to where the fight was taking place. After moving from the passenger seat to the steering wheel, he reversed and hit MC Rita and Matheus Kelvin Vieira do Nascimento before leaving the scene.

In a statement to the Civil Police, MC Rita said that she had finished her concert schedule and was preparing to leave when she noticed a man getting into the vehicle in which she and friends had arrived. The singer said that, initially, she believed he had confused the cars and started shouting for him to get out of the car. The driver then reversed and hit her.

She also reported that a friend, identified only as Fernanda, remained inside the vehicle and ended up being taken unintentionally during the escape. The woman, however, did not appear at the police station to give a statement.

MC Rita's advisor informed CNN Brasil that the artist was taken to the São Vicente Central Emergency Room, received medical attention and was released. According to the singer's team, she did not suffer any fractures and only had minor injuries.

In the police report, the police authority states that, at this initial stage of the investigation, the version presented by the person being investigated may indicate a hypothesis of self-defense, as he claims to have used the vehicle to escape the attacks. However, the Civil Police emphasizes that there are still not enough elements to confirm this thesis and that further steps will be necessary, including the identification of witnesses and the analysis of other security images.

The case was registered at the São Vicente Police Station and remains under investigation for bodily injury, damage and investigation of the circumstances of the escape.

MC Rita consolidated her career in funk with the hit "Amor de Verdade", in partnership with MC Kekel, and since 2025 she has been making a transition to pagode.
