"There is no time to find someone to blame", says Rayan's mother after elimination

Vanessa Simplício, mother of striker Rayan, published an open letter on social media in which she vented about the elimination of the Brazilian team in the 2026 World Cup. The team led by Carlo Ancelotti was defeated 2-1 by Norway and said goodbye to the competition in the round of 16.

Vanessa began her message by highlighting the importance of football for Brazilian culture and stated that elimination represents much more than a simple defeat. She also highlighted that the Seleção's campaign to the World Cup was built with a lot of "fight" and "dedication", and argued that there is no room to look for blame for the result.

"Brazilian football is more than a sport, it is part of our history, our identity and our passion, it is a culture", he wrote. "The path until yesterday was built with struggle, dedication, dreams and hope. There is no time to find someone to blame."

Although he regretted the elimination, Rayan's mother stated that defeats are part of sport and life. For her, the setback should serve as a lesson for the next cycle of the Selection.

"Football also teaches us about the other side of passion. For those who truly experience this feeling, the joy is intense, but the sadness is also deep. Yesterday was a difficult day, a defeat that hurts the hearts of those who support, believe and dream together", he stated.

"It's part of sport, it's part of life. The result is not always what we want, but each step taken leaves learning, memories and experiences that no one can erase. It's about starting over with our heads held high and moving towards the near future with a lot of faith and hard work", he added.
