In 1985, while still a student at Harvard and eager for opportunities, he lied at an audition for the "Use Your Smarts" program on WVCB-TV, a local Boston channel hosted by Dick Albert. Damon claimed he could ice skate to play a young Michael J. Fox in a vignette.

The reality? He fell badly, hit his head and passed out! Instead of delivering a brilliant performance, Damon cost the production extra money, which had to hire another actor to reshoot the scene. "My first professional job was for WVCB-TV. I fell and knocked myself out. So my first job, I actually cost the production money because I lied at the audition and I couldn't skate," Damon revealed years later.

This humiliating experience happened even before her roles in "Mystic Pizza" and "Rising Son." Damon combined his studies with his passion for acting, but this initial fiasco served as a harsh lesson: reputation is everything at the beginning of your career.
