During an interview with the YouTube channel Gonze Neles, by influencer Matheus Gonze, the former number 12 said that he was already treated as a highlight of Parque São Jorge even as a teenager. According to him, the recognition within the club was so great that it attracted the attention of fans and even athletes from other categories.

"Man, I spent five years at Corinthians' base, I passed the field seven times and when I was 14, 15 years old, I was a reference for the club. So, for example, there were under-10, under-12, under-14 games, at that time the field players lived under the stands. The professional Corinthians trained at Parque São Jorge itself. So, if my game was at three in the afternoon, everyone left the pools, everyone left the sun, everyone came out and went to see me play. The Corinthians gym was packed to see me play when I was 14, 15 years old.", said Falcão.

Despite the prestige gained in futsal, Falcão revealed that Corinthians insisted several times on taking him to field football. However, the experience never pleased him, and he ended up quickly returning to the courts.

"Then the guys took me to the field. I stayed in the field for a month and didn't go again, I didn't like it. So, when I had to study, go to the butcher's shop, train in the field and train in futsal, when I got tired I would cut something and choose the field.", revealed the Brazilian futsal idol.

The former player also revealed that he had the opportunity to compete in the São Paulo Junior Football Cup for Corinthians. However, an unusual decision meant that he did not even participate in the competition.

"I passed the field seven times, there was a Copa São Paulo de Juniores in which I was going to be a starter. They allowed those from São Paulo to spend Christmas at home and come back. I went home and didn't come back, I swear to God. I didn't play in the Copinha.", he recalled.

Finally, Falcão recalled that important Corinthians managers tried to convince him that field football was the ideal path for his career. Still, he never managed to maintain a streak in the sport.

"Dualib, at the time, Pupo Gimenez, were planning their career. They said: 'Your plan is here for the next five years. You have to play the field and I don't know what'. I replied: 'Okay, I'm going'. Then I would go for two months and not come back.", concluded the former player.

The choice ended up being the right one, as Falcão is considered by many to be the greatest futsal player in history. Elected the best player in the world by FIFA four times (2004, 2006, 2011 and 2012), he stood out for his skill, goals and longevity, ending his professional career in 2018 with more than 400 goals for the Brazilian national team and two Futsal World Cup titles.
