Disclosure
Singer Djavan announced this Tuesday (9) the cancellation of his show in Luanda, capital of Angola, scheduled for July 4th. According to a statement, the reason was the "sanitary context" in regions of the African continent.
In the text published on social media, the artist explained that the cancellation was a "preventive" measure and that it has no specific relationship with Angola.
"We inform you that, after a careful assessment of the current health context in some regions of the African continent and the monitoring recommendations issued by international health organizations, the decision was made not to have Djavan participate in the event in Angola on the scheduled date", it says the beginning of the statement.
Since May, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a country that borders Angola, has been facing an outbreak of Ebola.

Recent Ebola outbreak
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) reported on Monday (8) that the number of deaths caused by the Ebola outbreak exceeded 100 victims. The country is experiencing an emergency situation with new cases being confirmed daily, reaching 550 infected people and 101 deaths in the last report released.
In a recent report published this Monday, the government of Congo reported 35 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, including 10 deaths. Cases were recorded in 17 of Ituri's health zones, as well as seven health zones in North Kivu and one health zone in South Kivu.
Distrust and resistance have undermined the response, with reports of attacks on burial teams and treatment centers. The most recent of these attacks occurred on Sunday, a source told Reuters. The target of the attack was a burial team working at the Nyamurongo cemetery in Bunia, leaving two people seriously injured and two vehicles damaged.

On Friday (5), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Africa Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) launched a joint plan worth US$518 million (about R$2.6 billion) to combat the epidemic between June and November.
The outbreak was officially declared on May 15 in northeastern Congo, but health authorities believe that the rare Bundibugyo variant of the virus Ebola had been circulating without detection for some time.
The disease has already reached three Congolese provinces. The epicenter is in Ituri, responsible for around 90% of confirmed cases and 76% of deaths as of Friday, according to the Africa CDC.
The virus also crossed the country's borders. In Uganda, neighboring Congo, 16 cases were confirmed, including one death.
See Djavan's full statement:
The measure is exclusively preventive in nature and arises from the responsibility inherent in managing an international production that involves a large number of professionals constantly moving between different countries. This is a decision that has no relationship with Angola, a country that has not registered any situation that justifies specific concern.
Djavan and his team deeply regret not being able to be with the Angolan public at this time and are grateful for the affection, respect and support they have always received from Angola throughout its trajectory.
The organization of the event has been informed and following the discussions related to the topic.
We reaffirm our deep respect and admiration for the Angolan people and express the desire that, in a future opportunity and under appropriate conditions, this meeting can happen.
