Soft Cell, one of the most influential duos in the history of British synth-pop, officially announced the release of their new studio album, "Danceteria", a project that promises to mark the definitive end of the group's musical trajectory. The work arrives full of emotion as it is dedicated to Dave Ball, co-founder of the band and responsible for much of the sound identity that transformed Soft Cell into a worldwide phenomenon.
Formed by Marc Almond and Dave Ball, the duo achieved international fame in the 1980s with hits that helped define synth-pop, including classics like "Tainted Love", "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" and "Bedsitter". Now, after decades of influencing generations of artists, the duo is preparing to say goodbye to the studio.
According to information released by the international press, "Danceteria" will be officially launched on September 25th. The announcement was accompanied by the release of the album's title track, which is now available to fans. The project carries special significance as it was completed shortly before Dave Ball's death, which occurred in October 2025, at the age of 66.

Marc Almond explained that the album functions as a true love letter to the city of New York and the artistic environment that profoundly influenced the formation of Soft Cell. The name "Danceteria" references the legendary New York club that became a symbol of 1980s alternative culture and helped shape the duo's creative identity.
The singer highlighted that New York played a fundamental role in the group's history. It was in the city that several creative ideas took shape and where musicians consolidated part of their artistic vision. So turning this period into a farewell album seemed like the perfect way to pay homage to Dave Ball and close one of the most important chapters in British electronic music.
Almond also made it clear that he does not intend to continue recording under the Soft Cell name without the participation of his decades-old partner. According to him, Dave Ball represented half of the group's creative essence and his absence makes it impossible to imagine new recordings. Despite this, live performances may still take place on special occasions.

Another exciting aspect revealed by the vocalist is that Ball managed to listen to the entire album before his death. According to Almond, the musician showed great satisfaction with the final result and considered the work one of the best productions of the duo's career. This approval made the launch even more significant for everyone involved.
The album's tracklist will feature 14 new tracks, including songs such as "Elusive", "The Space Inside", "Times Square", "The Rainbow Room", "Crackland", "Losing Yourself", "Wave to America" and "Out Come the Freaks". The material promises to bring together classic Soft Cell elements with new sound experiments that keep the identity built over more than four decades alive.
The announcement of "Danceteria" represents not only the arrival of a new album, but also the official farewell of one of the most important formations in electronic music. For fans, it will be an opportunity to celebrate Dave Ball's legacy and relive the trajectory of a duo that helped transform synth-pop into a global phenomenon.
