Norway coach Stale Solbakken revealed that he received a gesture of respect from Carlo Ancelotti after the 2-1 victory over Brazil in the round of 16 of the World Cup. According to the coach, the Brazilian team commander sent a personalized shirt with his name, ending a controversy created before the match.

On the eve of the clash, a video in which Solbakken said "Carlo Ancelotti, we are coming!" had repercussions among Brazilian fans. The coach stated, however, that the statement was taken out of context and highlighted the Italian's stance after the game.

"I can say that he showed all his greatness after the match. He sent a representative with a Brazil shirt with my name on the back and a dedication. It was a very strong gesture", said Solbakken this Monday (6).

Norway secured an unprecedented place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup thanks to Erling Haaland's two goals against Brazil. The next opponent will be England, on Saturday, in Miami.

The coach said that, despite the historic classification, he had difficulty sleeping after the match.

"I let the coaching staff celebrate. I was too tired, I went to the room, watched the game again, answered some messages and slept very little. But I woke up really well", he said.

Solbakken also stated that he gave the players freedom to celebrate the achievement, but highlighted the confidence in the squad.

"They decide these things. It's freedom with responsibility. It's always been like that, and these players know how to deal with it very well", he concluded.
