Nominated 8 times, Glenn Close will win an honorary Oscar for her career

The United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced last Wednesday (10) which artists will receive an honorary Oscar, in a ceremony that will take place on November 15. Among those honored are actress Glenn Close and director Ridely Scott.

Glenn has been nominated 8 times, but lost all of them. As a supporting actress, she received nominations for:

- "The World According to Garp" (1982);
- "The Reunion" (1983);
- and "An Outlandish Man" (1984).

As best actress, she received nominations for:

- "Fatal Attraction" (1987);
- "Dangerous Liaisons" (1988)
- "Albert Nobbs" (2011);
- "The Wife" (2018);
- and "Once Upon a Dream" (2020).

Despite the big films she starred in, Glenn Close was best known for her work as Cruella in "101 Dalmatians" (1996).

Other nominations
Ridley Scott will also win an honorary Oscar. The director is responsible for classic features such as "Alien, the Eighth Passenger" (1979), "Blade Runner" (1982), "Thelma and Louise" (1991), as well as "Gladiator" (2000), "Black Hawk Down" (2001) and "Crusade" (2005).

Finally, animator Floyd Norman, responsible for working on the script and designs for Disney productions such as "Mulan" (1998), "Toy Story 2" (1999) and "Monsters Inc." (2001).
