Actor Nicolas Cage, 62, commented on the consequences that a professional refusal can have on the ego of great Hollywood filmmakers.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, the Oscar winner revealed that established directors often cut ties after hearing a "no" from an actor - a reaction he classifies as frequent in the film industry.

List of hurt directors
The actor made no secret when talking about the subject. Among the directors who didn't come back to him are names like Christopher Nolan, with whom he negotiated for the film "Insônia", and Paul Thomas Anderson, at the time of the feature film "Jogada de Risco". Woody Allen is also on the list of filmmakers rejected by the actor.

"Most of them get hurt and don't call you anymore. It's happened to me a million times. It happened to Christopher Nolan, to Woody Allen, to Paul Thomas Anderson. They don't call me again," he explained.

Does the rule apply to all big names in Hollywood? Not necessarily, according to the actor. David O. Russell, director of "Silver Linings Playbook", was an exception who went against the industry's controversial behind-the-scenes modus operandi, offering Cage a new proposal even after an initial refusal.

Streaming debut
In addition to professional disagreements, Cage also revealed that he is preparing to launch his newest project on television. The actor is the protagonist of the live-action series "Spider-Noir", which debuts in the Prime Video catalog on May 27th.

In the plot, produced by Oren Unziel, he returns to play Spider-Man Noir, a character he had already voiced in the animations of the Aranhaverso franchise. As an aesthetic difference, all episodes of the season will be made available to the public in two versions: in black and white and color.
