NFL Flag launches profile in Portuguese on social media
The NFL Flag is growing rapidly in Brazil, and is preparing new actions to bring Brazilian youth even closer. The program gained a profile on social media in Portuguese, with content that will be aimed at fans of flag football, the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic sport.
The NFL Flag Brasil is present on Instagram and TikTok at @NFLFlagBR.
The movement aims to continue connecting young Brazilians to the practice of flag football, a sport that does not involve physical contact between players, combining fun and inclusion.
In Brazil, NFL Flag already impacts more than 10 thousand teenagers between 12 and 16 years old, in free projects in partnership with hundreds of public schools in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The NFL trains physical education teachers and donates the equipment needed for the game, such as balls and ribbons, as well as ongoing pedagogical support.
The program holds regional tournaments throughout Brazil with national finals, which classify teams for competitions abroad, such as the experience during the Pro Bowl, in the United States, and the World Championships, held last year in Mexico. NFL teams also hold flag football clinics in the country. They are: Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions and Phildelphia Eagles.
"The NFL places a lot of hope and effort on flag football in Brazil because it believes in the game and in the talent of young Brazilians. We quickly achieved great numbers with NFL Flag in Brazil, with wonderful events and experiences for young people, and we want much more: our goal is to continue impacting the new generation of NFL fans", explained the general manager of the NFL in Brazil, Luis Martinez.
The sport is on the program for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, in what will be the first participation in the Summer Olympics. Led by Ifaf and supported by the NFL, the action presents the game's new path for global development.
Flag football is played by around 20 million people in more than 100 countries around the world, being a short, fast, contactless and gender-equal format. It's the most inclusive and accessible form of American football.
Brazilian Gabi Bankhardt is a global ambassador for flag football. Practitioner since 2017, she has established herself as one of the most prominent athletes in the country, becoming the captain of the Brazilian national team and South American champion. In addition to being an athlete, Gabi also contributes to the training of women's and men's flag football teams.
