New government leader in the Senate meets with Alcolumbre to try to stop 'bomb agenda'

The new leader of the government in the Senate, Teresa Leitão (PT-PE), met with the president of the House, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), this Tuesday (30).
The meeting lasted just over an hour and took place in the week in which the Senate can vote on a Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) with a billion-dollar impact on public accounts.
The text, which is on this Tuesday's Senate agenda, creates a special retirement for community health workers and those fighting endemic diseases.
The proposal also determines the regularization of the functional relationship of these agents, prohibiting temporary or outsourced hiring, except in public health emergency situations. A Social Security projection indicates a fiscal impact of R$30 billion over ten years.

The Lula government's economic team views the proposal with concern, given the increase in expenses. The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, has already met with Alcolumbre to discuss the issue.
The PEC joins the list of bomb agendas discussed recently, such as the renegotiation of rural producers' debts, the increase in the minimum wage for doctors, becoming yet another factor of pressure on public accounts.
In practice, a bomb agenda is a bill or a legislative proposal that creates high expenses for the government, putting pressure on public coffers or reducing revenue.
At the meeting held this Tuesday at the Official Residence of the Senate, Teresa Leitão and Alcolumbre also they debated priority issues for the government, such as the proposal that ends the 6x1 scale and the Public Security PEC.
The government is trying to speed up the processing of texts before the parliamentary recess, which takes place between July 18th and 31st. The two proposals have been stalled in the Senate since they received the approval of the Chamber of Deputies.

Teresa Leitão was chosen by Lula after the former government leader in the Senate, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), left office after being the target of the Federal Police's Operation Compliance Zero, which is investigating the senator's links with Augusto Lima, a former partner at Banco Master.
As soon as he announced the appointment, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that Teresa Leitão will have the mission of articulating the approval of projects considered priorities by the government.
