New conciliation hearing on bus strike in Rio is called

Amid debates about the bus workers' strike in Rio de Janeiro, the Regional Labor Court (TRT) called for a new conciliation hearing, at 11am this Wednesday (1st).

On the afternoon of this Tuesday (30), the Road Workers Union approved, in a vote, the maintenance of the strike until next Monday (6), after a session held at TRT-1 ended without a new proposal presented by the employers' union.

According to TRT-1, the new hearing scheduled for Wednesday meets the request made by Sintrucad-Rio. The union reported the category's non-agreement regarding the suspension of the strike, without a proposal that would satisfy union members.

According to Sebastião José, president of the union, this initiative proves that the TRT, which considered the strike of the category legitimate, received the category's proposals with attention. "I look forward to this new hearing to put an end to the workers' strike, and thus allow the population to return to normality," he said.

Soon after the end of the hearing at the TRT, Sebastião will call a general assembly of the category that will be held at the entity's headquarters to present the employer's proposal, and thus decide whether to accept the offer or maintain the strike.

Understand the strike
The strike began at midnight on Monday (29) after the failure of negotiations over the category's salary campaign. Without consensus between workers and companies, road workers decided to start the wall movement while demanding improvements in working conditions and salary adjustments.

Among the main demands of the category are:

- Salary floor of R$4,000 for drivers and R$5,000 for articulated bus drivers;
- 17% adjustment for all workers;
- Food voucher of R$1,000;
- Health and dental plan;
- End of temporary contracts at Mobi-Rio, with the transition to the CLT regime.
