Napoli announce Massimiliano Allegri as new coach until 2029

Napoli announced this Friday (3) the hiring of Massimiliano Allegri as the team's new coach. The 58-year-old commander's contract is valid until June 30, 2029.

One of the most successful coaches in Italian football, Allegri has six Serie A titles and four Italian Championship and Coppa Italia doubles, achieved during spells at Juventus and Milan.

The coach arrives at Napoli after a short second spell at Milan, which ended in May. He was fired after the team's performance dropped in the final stretch of the season, which ended in fifth place in Serie A and out of the Champions League for the second year in a row.

Allegri's departure was part of a broad shake-up of Milan's board of directors, which also resulted in the departures of executives Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada.

At Napoli, Allegri replaces Antonio Conte, who left command of the team even after leading the club to runner-up in the Italian championship, behind Inter Milan.
