Museum of Tomorrow launches School of Sciences to debate the future of society

The Museum of Tomorrow, in Rio de Janeiro, launches this month the School of Sciences of Tomorrow, a center for discussing emerging themes in society.

The place should hold scientific meetings and discussions between experts and society about the future and guide the institution's operations for the next ten years.

There will be three fronts of action for the production of scientific content: training, research and documentation projects carried out through podcasts, research seminars, academic articles and technical reports. The School will be coordinated by scientists Fabio Scarano and Nina Pougy.

"The School of Sciences of Tomorrow comes from the perception of the Museum of Tomorrow as a hub of thought. Over ten years, we have accumulated significant knowledge, the result of scientific projects and research carried out during these periods. Now, we want to further expand this production of knowledge", says the Museum's curator, Fabio Scarano.

School Projects
The School of Sciences of Tomorrow already has the Sustainability and Futures discipline in progress, created in conjunction with the Fundação Darcy Vargas School.

The subject focuses on students in the 1st and 2nd years of high school to train young people in sustainability.

The Museum also plans to launch training in Climate Justice, a training cycle with an online stage for all of Brazil and in-person immersion in Rio de Janeiro, which should discuss climate agenda and justice.

The projects also include the launch of the new season of the Museum of Tomorrow podcast, which will address the culture and use of fire.

The Women in Science and Innovation projects, an initiative to promote entrepreneurship and leadership of women in science and technology, the Elisa Frota Pessoa Award, aimed at women researchers in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and the UNESCO Chair in Planetary Well-being and Regenerative Anticipation, which develops essential skills for the 21st century, from the Museum's former scientific sector, are now managed by the School of Sciences of Tomorrow.
