MrBeast, the biggest YouTuber in the world, reached an unprecedented milestone this Friday (12) by becoming the first individual content creator to surpass the mark of 500 million subscribers on the platform.
The information was celebrated by YouTube itself on its official website.
Who is MrBeast
Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, became famous for producing videos with challenges involving large amounts of money and for investing millions of dollars in his recordings, which often mix entertainment and social impact actions.
MrBeast gained prominence by reinvesting practically everything he earns in the production of new content. Among his most popular videos is the real-life recreation of the Round 6 series, with a prize of US$456,000. He has also recorded content with celebrities such as Cristiano Ronaldo.
One of his videos drew attention because it was recorded on Ilha das Cobras, off the coast of São Paulo, considered one of the most dangerous areas in the world due to the large concentration of venomous snakes.
During filming, MrBeast and his team spent a night there and used protective equipment to avoid snake attacks.
In addition to YouTube, MrBeast expanded his business to other areas. In Brazil, it launched the burger restaurant MrBeast Burger, which only operates via delivery in some cities, with popular prices. The brand emerged in the USA in 2020 and has spread to more than 1,700 points of sale around the world.
The influencer also created the reality show Beast Games, shown on Prime Video, which brought together a thousand participants competing for a prize of US$5 million.
The program, however, is the target of lawsuits filed by participants, who allege they were subjected to inadequate conditions and an environment marked by misogyny and sexism.
Accusation of moral harassment
In April this year, a Brazilian woman claimed to have suffered sexual and moral harassment during the period in which she worked at the YouTuber's company, MrBeast Industries. Lorrayne Mavromatis explained the case in a video posted on her Instagram.
"I was one of the few women in the senior executive ranks, and often the only woman in the room. When I came up with an idea, I was called stupid, only to stand there and watch a man say exactly the same thing ninety seconds later and receive a round of applause," she reported.
