MP points out cases without conclusion for 10 years at police station in MT
The Public Ministry of Mato Grosso filed a public civil action against the State demanding the regularization of the Civil Police Station of Feliz Natal, a city 530 km from Cuiabá. The agency claims that the site has an accumulation of unfinished investigations and inadequate physical conditions.
The MP points out that investigations have been open for more than a decade, including those related to serious crimes such as homicides, rape of vulnerable people, drug trafficking and domestic violence.
The judicial measure was adopted, according to the MPMT, to demand improvements at the site in the face of a precarious scenario that compromises the provision of public security services and directly affects the local population.
According to the document, the Public Prosecutor's Office carried out inspections over the last few years, which revealed structural and operational irregularities at the police station.
The main problems indicated by the MPMT are:
- Lack of police personnel;
- Significant accumulation of investigations without conclusion;
- Failures in the chain of custody of evidence;
- Lack of adequate management;
- Inadequate physical conditions.
According to the action, there are records of police reports that have remained unanalyzed for more than five years. The police station operates with an extremely small team, according to MP inspections.

Thus, the Public Ministry requests the granting of emergency relief so that the State can implement an emergency plan.
The action also demands that the State be ordered to pay compensation for collective moral damages in the amount of R$300,000, to be returned to the Fund for the Defense of Diffuse Rights, as a form of accountability for the failures found and the losses caused to society.
CNN Brasil requested a position from the Civil Police and the Government of Mato Grosso. The space is open for demonstrations.
