♬ One of the singers with the greatest stylistic rigor in the history of Brazilian music, Rio de Janeiro's Elizeth Cardoso (July 16, 1920 - May 7, 1990) had her repertoire covered by São Paulo's Mônica Salmaso - a singer of equal stature vocals and commitment to Art - in a show that debuted in the city of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) in 2020, on the occasion of the centenary of Elizeth's birth, with arrangements and musical direction by guitarist Paulo Aragão.
Five years later, in May 2025, the show "Senhora das songs - A tribute to Elizeth Cardoso" returned to Divina's hometown - the epithet given to the performer of songs such as "Canção de amor" (Chocolate and Elano de Paula, 1950) and "Meigapresencia" (Paulo Valdez and Otávio de Morais, 1966) - for four shows in the "Terças no Ipanema" project, at the Ipanema Theater.
Taking advantage of this Rio season in May 2025, Mônica Salmaso entered the studio of the record company Biscoito Fino with the musicians Aquiles Moraes (trumpet and flugelhorn), Luciana Rabello (cavaquinho), Magno Júlio (percussion), Marcus Thadeu (percussion), Mauricio Carrilho (seven-string guitar), Paulo Aragão (guitar) and Teco Cardoso (flute and saxophone) to record the show without an audience.
"The day before the last show at Teatro Ipanema, we went to the Biscoito Fino studio and recorded the entire album live with the 16 songs from the script. It was one of the most beautiful recording sessions I've ever participated in", says Salmaso.
The studio recording gave rise to the album "Senhora das songs - Um tribute to Elizeth", scheduled to be released in August, in an edition of Biscoito Fino, with a cover that displays graphic design by Ruth Freihof.
♪ Here, in the arrangement of the tracks on the album, are the 16 songs that make up the repertoire of the album "Senhora das songs - Um tribute to Elizeth", with the right to some poetic licenses, such as the samba "Deixa pra lá", sung by Mônica Salmaso in tribute to the São Paulo singer Isaura Garcia (1923 - 1993):
