Miss is found dead under rubble after earthquake in Venezuela; family campaigns to finance body recovery

Venezuelan model Skarlent Rodríguez, winner of the Miss Grand Orlando 2025 contest, and her boyfriend, José Castro, were found dead under the rubble of the building where they lived, in La Guaira. The couple joins the victims of the earthquakes that hit Venezuela last Wednesday (24).
The confirmation was made by the family last Monday (29), through a campaign on the GoFundMe crowdfunding platform. The purpose of the collection is to cover the costs of recovering the bodies and the funeral.

"We want to thank everyone who accompanied us in the search for our loved ones, Skarlent Rodríguez and José Castro. Unfortunately, today, they were both found dead... next to each other, together until the end", the family wrote.
The relatives stated that the searches were "extremely expensive" and said that they were also facing financial difficulties. According to the text, José's family lost his father, grandmother, an uncle and an aunt in the earthquakes. Skarlent's family members say they have not been able to return to work since the beginning of the tragedy.

The couple was in the apartment where they lived, in Catia La Mar, when the building collapsed because of the tremors. After several days of searching, rescue teams located the two dead.
Skarlent was 23 years old and was considered a beauty pageant promise.
