Ministry has already sent evidence to the EU about antimicrobials, says Lupion

The president of the FPA (Agricultural Parliamentary Front), Pedro Lupion (Republicanos-PR), confirmed that the documents to enable exports of Brazilian animal products have already been sent by Mapa (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock) to the European authorities.

The parliamentarian met with the holder of the portfolio, André de Paula, this Tuesday morning (9) and, after the meeting, updated that the evidence on antimicrobials requested by the European bloc had been forwarded.

The EU made official this Monday (8) the removal of Brazil from the list of suppliers of meat, honey and other products, after a position released on May 28.

At an FPA meeting, Lupion stated that Mapa ambassadors and secretaries are mobilized to reverse the situation by September 3 - the deadline imposed by the European Union to suspend the import of Brazilian animal products.

In Lupion's assessment, the EU's decision to leave Brazil off the list of exporters sets a complicated precedent for the country. For him, the key now is to work to enable Brazilian exports.

"Before pointing out blame, we need to work in favor of Brazil. There were mistakes in the process, of course, but the decision is protectionist in nature", he highlighted.

There is no doubt about the health and quality of Brazilian meat, what is at stake are the production methods and protocols", he added.

According to the parliamentarian, an EU commission will carry out a mission in Brazil in August to evaluate the possibility of qualifying the country for exports.
