Military personnel involved in the Cesium-137 accident are promoted for bravery

The Military Police of the State of Goiás published the promotion of four state soldiers from the reserve paid for acts of bravery, in compliance with court decisions related to the agents' actions during the radiological accident with Césio-137, in Goiânia. The measures were published, this Monday (25), in the Official Gazette.

In a note, the Goiás PM informed that the promotions took place following determinations by the state's Judiciary.

According to the corporation, the criteria for promotion for bravery follow technical and legal requirements set out in state military career legislation.

Among those honored is the 1st sergeant of the paid reserve Reginaldo Reis Chagas do Carmo, promoted to the rank of warrant officer for an act of bravery. Reserve 1st Sergeant Mauro Rosa de Castro was also promoted to the rank of warrant officer.

1st Sergeant Antônio Carlos Pereira received the promotion to warrant officer after a court decision recognized the right to promotion. Reserve 2nd Sergeant Rômulo Almeida dos Santos was promoted to the rank of 1st Sergeant also for an act of bravery.

The court decision recognized the effective participation of the military in the radiological accident involving Cesium-137.
