A helicopter crashed in a field in the Sourton Down region, in the county of Devon, southwest England, on Wednesday morning (3). According to local police, the case is treated as an ongoing incident and has mobilized emergency teams.
The BBC reported that the British Ministry of Defense confirmed that the aircraft involved belongs to the Royal Navy, the naval force of the British Armed Forces.
A spokesperson for the corporation stated that the incident occurred shortly before 4 am (local time) and that the circumstances of the crash are being investigated. According to him, "it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
Also according to the BBC, military helicopters usually carry out training in the northern Dartmoor region.
Because of the incident, the A386 highway was closed between Sourton Down and Okehampton to allow investigation work.
