Mika Abdalla's ex, from "Off Campus", apologizes to the actress: "Inappropriate"
Actor Jake Short, 29, used social media this Saturday morning (6) to apologize to his ex-fiancee and actress Mika Abdalla, 26, who plays Allie Hayes in "Off Campus". The couple announced the end of their five-year relationship on June 1.
After the separation, an excerpt from an interview given by the ex-couple in 2024 to the podcast "The Sit and Chat" went viral on social media. On occasion, Jake referred to Abdalla as "some bitch" when asked to describe his then-girlfriend.
In a post made on Instagram stories, the actor apologized for the comment. "I made a disrespectful and childish joke in a video that was circulated again this week," he wrote. "It is essential for me to take responsibility, as I am aware that it was inappropriate", he adds.
Next, Jake states that the joke does not match who he is and does not represent what his relationship with Abdalla was. "I continue to learn from this situation and work to show people the respect they deserve," he continued.

After the negative repercussion of the video, the ex-couple spoke out in a joint note sent to Us Weekly. "We saw a conversation about snippets of videos of us together from when we were in a relationship and people making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamics," the statement reads.
The actors state that they "had a loving and respectful relationship for five years" and that "it is painful to see moments of relaxation dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other."
Mika Abdalla and Jake Short met in 2021 while filming the film "Sex Appeal". The friendship evolved into a loving relationship and, over the years, the two began to share moments together on social media. The engagement was publicly confirmed through posts on Instagram.
The news of the breakup comes precisely at a moment of great prominence in Mika's career. The actress is one of the protagonists of "Off Campus", an adaptation of Elle Kennedy's book series for Prime Video. In the production, she plays Allie Hayes, a character who will gain even more space in the second season.
