Midfielder Éderson, who played for Corinthians between 2020 and 2021, will no longer transfer from Atalanta, in Italy, to Manchester United, in England, aiming for the 2026/2027 season. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specializes in international transfers, the English team chose to take a step back from negotiations after the medical examinations and, as a result, canceled the negotiation.
In this way, at first, the midfielder remains in the Bergamo team. Éderson had been monitored by Manchester United for a few months. The Red Devils had reached an agreement with the Italians to pay 38 million pounds (R$260 million) to acquire the midfielder who defended the Brazilian team in the 2026 World Cup.

Corinthians, in view of this, failed to earn R$2.36 million, referring to the FIFA Solidarity Mechanism, with Ederson not transferring to Manchester United. The value in question would correspond to 1% of the total negotiation figures, as the midfielder defended the Corinthians shirt when he was 20 and 22 years old.
Despite Manchester United's objection to the athlete's medical examinations, Atalanta understands that Éderson is in good physical condition and will return to the Bergamo team for the rest of the season.
Éderson was signed by Corinthians at the beginning of 2020 after standing out for Cruzeiro in 2019. After a promising start at Parque São Jorge, the player lost space and, in mid-2021, was loaned to Fortaleza, where he stood out and played a decisive role in the team's G4 campaign in that year's Brasileirão. At the beginning of 2022, it was sold by Corinthians to Salernitana, from Italy, for 6.5 million euros (R$39 million at the time).
Alvinegro held 70% of the player's economic rights at the time and raised R$27 million. After a season at Salernitana, he caught the attention of Atalanta, where he remains to this day. Wearing the Corinthians shirt, he scored three goals in 25 games (14 as a starter), with 10 wins, seven draws and eight defeats - 49.3% success rate.
