Microsoft expected to launch AI tools for PC and cloud this Tuesday

Microsoft will hold its annual software developer conference this Tuesday, where the company is expected to showcase new tools for developers building AI software for PCs and the cloud.

In a keynote speech in San Francisco, Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella is expected to outline how the technology company plans to compete in the cloud space, where it is an investor and rival to companies like OpenAI, and increasingly in PCs.

These laptops and computers are becoming home to tools like OpenClaw, an open source software that can direct groups of AI bots called agents to perform everyday tasks for users.

But OpenClaw, which gained popularity in China and helped Apple - Microsoft's longtime rival - sell Mac computers, and other similar tools also pose a risk to most companies.

Analysts expect Microsoft to work to make these autonomous AI tools safer so that businesses and the 1 billion Windows operating system users around the world can use them regularly.

They also expect more details on how Microsoft will allow developers to use a new chip from Nvidia, unveiled on Monday, to help bring AI directly to PCs.

The chip will be used in laptops priced to compete with Apple's premium offerings, and its launch has helped boost shares of Microsoft and major PC makers such as Dell Technologies, although analysts have said it may take some time for companies to adopt the new machines.

Analysts also expect Microsoft to release news about its own AI models, with which it intends to compete in areas such as code completion with OpenAI's Codex and Anthropic's Claude Code.
