Michael Jackson's daughter wins court case to recover R$3 million

Model Paris Jackson won a lawsuit against those responsible for managing her father's assets. Michael Jackson's daughter managed to recover more than US$625,000 (around R$3 million) that had been paid as bonuses to law firms, after considering that the payments did not have adequate approval.
"Ms. Jackson's objection to bonus payments worth US$625,000 made in the second half of 2018 is accepted. The bonus payments are not approved; they are rejected. The amounts must be returned to the estate", says the document obtained by "People" magazine. The bonuses were paid to businessmen John Branca and John McClain, responsible for managing the star's assets.
According to the decision, Paris is entitled to reimbursement of legal fees and procedural costs. In a statement, lawyers for the singer's estate said that while they "disagree with the decision, they fully respect it and plan to move forward in accordance with it."

For People magazine, Paris' spokesperson said that she "has always been focused on what's best for her family and that this decision is a huge victory for them."
"After years of delay, the Jackson family will finally have the transparency and financial accountability measures that Paris has been fighting for," the statement continued. "The Jackson estate should be a prudent, fiscally responsible entity that supports the Jackson family, not a trust to help John Branca live out his Hollywood mogul fantasies. After months of engaging in sexist and aggressive tactics against a beneficiary, it is time for John Branca to acknowledge his many mistakes and act in the best interests of the family he has a fiduciary duty to protect."
In addition to Paris, her brothers Prince, 29, and Bigi, 24, are also beneficiaries of the estate.
