Mexico resumes electronic visa for Brazilians after more than three years

Mexico resumed, last Thursday (5), the issuance of electronic visas to Brazilians, which had been suspended since August 2022.
The modality is only valid for visitors who arrive in the country by air and do not carry out remunerated activities in Mexico. The visa allows for a single entry and is valid for 180 days.
The visa is issued entirely online, via the official website visaelectronica.sre.gob.mx.
The electronic visa includes a photograph and a QR Code and can be presented to the immigration authorities in digital or printed format. The Mexican Embassy recommends taking a printed version to facilitate the conference.

Brazilians who want visas with multiple entries, valid for up to 180 days or up to 10 years, should contact the Embassy of Mexico, at Brasília, or the consulates in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The same rule applies to travelers entering Mexico by land or sea.
The Mexican Embassy also informed that issuing an electronic visa does not guarantee entry into the country, which depends on the evaluation of the immigration authorities.
Brazilians exempt from visa
Brazilian tourists with permanent residence or a valid visa from some countries do not need to present a visa to enter Mexico. The exemption is valid in the following cases:
Brazilians with permanent residence in the following locations: Canada, Chile, Colombia, United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, countries that are part of the Schengen Area (Europe) and members of the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru).
Citizens who have a valid and current visa from the following locations: Canada, United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and countries that are part of the Schengen Area. Those traveling on cruise ships can stay up to 7 days without a visa at the port of arrival.
