Norway After Canada qualified, it was Mexico's turn to advance to the knockout stage. Playing at the Azteca Stadium, the Mexicans beat Ecuador 2-0 without any major difficulties. The venue for the match made history once again: it is the only stadium in the world to host games from three editions of the World Cup.
France also confirmed its favoritism and remains firmly in the fight for the title. The French team defeated Sweden 3-0, with a dominant performance and highlighted by Mbappé, who reached the World Cup top scorer and now shares the lead among the competition's scorers with Lionel Messi.
And Brazil's next opponent has already been defined. Norway beat Ivory Coast 2-1 and advanced to the round of 16. The Scandinavian team showed that it does not depend solely on Haaland and will be the Seleção's challenge in the next phase of the World Cup.
