Messi equals Ronaldo's World Cup record with goals against Algeria

Lionel Messi shined again in a World Cup. The number 10 scored twice in Argentina's victory over Algeria this Tuesday (16) and reached a historic milestone in the tournament.

With the goals scored in the 17th and 60th minutes, Messi reached 15 goals in World Cups and equaled Ronaldo Fenômeno in second place among the greatest scorers in the history of the competition.

Earlier, Kylian Mbappé had also found the net twice in France's victory over Senegal and reached 14 goals in World Cups. With this, the Argentine temporarily surpassed the Frenchman in the historical ranking and resumed his pursuit of the leader of the list.

The only player ahead of Messi and Ronaldo is German Miroslav Klose, the absolute record holder with 16 goals.
