Forward Memphis Depay once again commented on his physical recovery after the period away due to a muscle injury and showed confidence to compete in the World Cup with the Netherlands national team. In an interview with ESPN, the Corinthians number 10 spoke about his current condition, the recovery process, monitoring with a private specialist and plans for the next few weeks before his debut in the tournament.
Memphis was sidelined for almost two months after suffering a muscle injury to his right thigh during the match between Corinthians and Flamengo, on March 22, for the Brazilian Championship. Since then, the attacker underwent treatment until he returned to activities and returned to play for the black and white club.

When asked about his physical condition on the eve of the World Cup, the player expressed optimism and stated that he hopes to arrive even better at the start of the competition.
"If I'm in shape now, I should be even better in two weeks. I feel good. If you can play, then for me you're in shape. We still have two friendlies and some good training to go, and that's what I have to work on."
The Dutch team will play friendlies against Algeria and Uzbekistan before their debut at the World Cup, scheduled for June 14th, against Japan.
During the interview, Memphis also explained his situation in the match against Platense, in the last round of the Libertadores group stage. The striker was a starter, but ended up being substituted and did not return for the final stage. According to him, the decision was made together with coach Fernando Diniz.
"That wasn't a good match to play in, against an Argentine team that was hitting a lot and committing a lot of fouls. So the coach said: 'Stay on the bench and go to the Netherlands in shape'."
Even with just a few minutes accumulated after recovery, the player showed no concern about his participation in the World Cup.
"If I'm in shape now, I should be even better in two weeks."
The striker also highlighted the importance of preparatory friendlies before the start of the tournament.
"A big tournament is a big tournament. That's where you have to prove yourself. Matches like these are also important for the atmosphere within the team."
Another topic discussed was the work carried out alongside the Spanish physiotherapist Fermín Valera Garrido, a professional who monitored his recovery during the injury period. Memphis made a point of highlighting the importance of the specialist in his physical routine.
"He's not just a physiotherapist, but a specialist. He travels all over the world. It's not like he works for the club. I'd even like that to happen. I like working with him. He doesn't just go to Brazil when I'm injured, but also for maintenance. This guy works with players bigger than me."
When asked about the factors that contributed to the longer recovery period, the attacker preferred not to go into details, but stated that the process required specific care.
"When you're injured, there are certain things you need to do. But they need to be done the right way."
Afterwards, he reinforced that the focus is entirely on the selection and the next career challenges.
"There's no point dwelling on this now because I'm in shape and with the national team."
Finally, Memphis revealed that he never lost confidence during treatment and highlighted the importance of listening to his own body throughout his recovery.
"My instinct tells me everything is fine. I feel good, I'm happy to be with the group and now I'm really looking forward to working towards the World Cup", he concluded.
