Forward Memphis Depay returns to the field this Monday (1st) in another commitment for the Netherlands team in the 2026 World Cup. The Dutch team faces Morocco, at 10pm (Brasília time), at the El Gigante de Acero Stadium, in Monterrey, Mexico, in an eliminatory match valid for the round of 32.

The match marks yet another challenge for the Netherlands in their search for a place in the round of 16 of the competition. Whoever advances will face Canada, in a duel scheduled for July 4th, at 2 pm (Brasília time), at Houston Stadium, in the United States.

The Dutch reached the knockout stage after finishing the group stage at the top of Group F, with seven points won. The campaign featured two wins and a draw, guaranteeing first place in the group ahead of Japan, who also advanced. Sweden and Tunisia ended their participation in the initial phase.

This Monday's opponent finished second in Group C. Morocco had the same score as Brazil, leader of the group, but was behind on goal difference. Scotland and Haiti completed the group and were eliminated.

So far, Memphis has participated in matches off the bench. In the debut against Japan, he entered the second stage when the Netherlands were winning 2-1, but saw the team suffer a 2-2 draw. In the following round, against Sweden, he contributed an assist for the fifth goal in the 5-1 victory. At the end of the group stage, he entered the 3-1 victory over Tunisia, without directly participating in the goals.

In addition to its sporting importance, the Dutch team's campaign also represents a financial gain for Corinthians. FIFA remunerates clubs that provide athletes to compete in the World Cup, paying five thousand dollars per day while the players remain available to their respective teams.

With the Netherlands remaining in the competition, the Parque São Jorge club has already secured another 20 thousand dollars, a value equivalent to approximately R$ 103 thousand. To date, Corinthians has accumulated around 80 thousand dollars, approximately R$ 415 thousand, referring to the period in which Memphis was called up during the tournament.

If the Dutch team continues to advance to the World Cup final, the amount allocated to Corinthians could reach 180 thousand dollars, an amount close to R$ 934 thousand.

In addition to the days played during the competition, Timão should also receive compensation for the Netherlands' preparation period before their World Cup debut. Memphis presented himself to the national team on May 30th for training, which could add around 75 thousand dollars, approximately R$389 thousand, to the club's coffers.

While representing his country, the number 10 misses Corinthians at the start of the interseason led by Fernando Diniz. The return date will depend on the Netherlands' World Cup campaign.

Another topic that remains open is the future of the striker at Parque São Jorge. Memphis' current contract with Corinthians is valid until July 31, and the player is still evaluating the proposal presented by the board to renew his contract after the end of the World Cup.
