Memphis is not triggered by Holland; Carrillo plays in Peru's defeat to Spain in international friendlies

Two Corinthians players were involved in international commitments last Monday (8), during the last FIFA Date before the start of the 2026 World Cup. While Memphis Depay remained on the Dutch bench, André Carrillo was used by the Peruvian team in the defeat to Spain.
The first appointment of the day involved Memphis. The Netherlands beat Uzbekistan 2-1 in a friendly played in the United States, ending their preparations for the World Cup. The Corinthian striker was among the substitutes throughout the match and was not called upon by coach Ronald Koeman.

The Dutch team opened the scoring with Cody Gakpo, on a penalty kick. In stoppage time of the final stage, Igor Sergeev equalized for the Uzbeks. When the draw seemed set, Gakpo converted another penalty in the last play of the match and guaranteed the victory for the European team.
Even without taking the field, Memphis remains part of the group that will compete in the World Cup. The Netherlands are in Group F and will make their debut on June 14th, against Japan. They will then face Sweden and Tunisia in the group stage.
In addition to the sporting aspect, the number 10's participation in the tournament also represents a financial return for Corinthians. The club will receive compensation from FIFA for the period in which the striker remains called up by the Dutch national team during the competition.
Later, it was André Carrillo's turn to take action. The midfielder started on the bench and was called on in the 17th minute of the second half, replacing Yotún, in Peru's 3-1 defeat to Spain, in a friendly played at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium, in Mexico.
The Spanish team built the advantage with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal, just two minutes in, and Pedri, in the 32nd minute of the first half. In the second half, Pedro Gallese scored an own goal in the eighth minute, extending the lead for the Europeans. Peru scored a discount in the 21st minute with Jairo Vélez, but were unable to react in the match.
The friendly marked the end of Spain's preparations before the World Cup. Current champions of the European Championship, the team arrives at the tournament among the candidates for the title. Peru, which did not secure a place in the 2026 World Cup, uses international commitments as part of planning for the next World Cup cycle.
Carrillo participated in the final minutes of the match and helped the Peruvian team seek greater control in midfield, but did not avoid the setback against one of the main teams in world football.
With the end of the friendlies, Memphis will continue to focus on the Netherlands for the World Cup, while Carrillo returns to the process of preparing the Peruvian team for upcoming international commitments.
