On vacation after failing to participate for the Netherlands in the 2026 World Cup, striker Memphis Depay is facing a dilemma regarding his future at Corinthians. With a contract only until July 31st, the number 10 should return to the day-to-day squad at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava if he extends his contract with the Parque São Jorge club. The information was initially published by Meu Timão.
The Dutchman took a break precisely after being called up by the Netherlands for the World Cup shortly after finishing the first semester at Corinthians. Due to the break in the calendar, the Corinthians squad received 25 days of vacation, resuming training on Thursday, June 25th.

Although all players received 25 days of rest, the Meu Timão report reported that a deadline for Memphis Depay's return to the Corinthians training center had not been stipulated. In recent days, journalist Samir Carvalho, from Café do Setorista, reported that, behind the scenes, there is a terrible atmosphere regarding Memphis Depay's stay at Parque São Jorge. Last Wednesday (8), the player published an enigmatic message on his secondary Instagram account, @bloodymemphiss, amid the dispute over contract renewal: "I lost people, money and time, but I never lost direction. And that's why I'm still here."

Corinthians' number 10 is experiencing a season below expectations. In 14 games for Timão in 2026, he has one goal and one assist. Between the end of March and the end of May. Memphis was sidelined, as he was recovering from a grade 2 muscle injury, suffered in a match against Flamengo, in Itaquera, in the eighth round of the Brasileirão.

Last season and at the beginning of this one, he was decisive in winning the Campeonato Paulista (2025), Copa do Brasil (2025) and Supercopa do Brasil (2026), accumulating two assists in these decisions and being important in the previous knockout stages. With the Corinthians shirt, there are 20 goals and 15 assists in 79 matches - 40 wins, 18 draws and 21 losses - 58.23% success rate.
