MBRF announced this Tuesday (26) an investment of R$500 million in Gelprime, a company specialized in the manufacture and distribution of gelatin and collagen, in which MBRF has held a 50% stake since October. The resources will be used to expand the company's production capacity.

According to a statement released by MBRF, the contributions will allow the opening of a new line of functional collagen in the second half of the year. The investment includes the acquisition of equipment for the production of the ingredient, used by the food industry in products with greater added value.

The expansion plan also foresees the expansion of the hydrolyzed collagen line, scheduled to come into operation in 2027. The product is used in supplements and can be incorporated into different categories, including drinks and processed foods.

According to the company, the new operations should allow Gelprime to double its production capacity. The expectation is that the company will reach around 30 thousand tons of capacity by 2030, positioning itself among the five largest global producers of gelatin and collagen.

In the statement, the chairman of MBRF, Marcos Molina, stated that the company's growth strategy is aligned with the increase in global demand for proteins and higher value-added products, such as gelatins and collagens.

The CEO of Gelprime, Vinícius Vanzella, declared that the joint operation between the companies expands the offer of protein solutions derived from the meat chain, focusing on ingredients with high protein concentration and purity aimed at the food industry.
