Mayor of Curitiba defends union of candidates for succession in PR
The mayor of Curitiba, Eduardo Pimentel (PSD), defended the union of candidates for succession to the government of Paraná in this year's elections.
The defense was made in an interview with CNN Brasil this Tuesday (16) after governor Ratinho Junior (PSD) supported the pre-candidacy of Sandro Alex (PSD) for the Iguaçu Palace.
"I am part of the political group that has governed Paraná for the last eight years," said Pimentel. "I support the thesis, as mayor of the capital and partner of governor Ratinho Junior, of uniting the candidacies that we have from the governor's support base to win the election."
According to Pimentel, there are two names that could form this ticket: Sandro Alex, who was Ratinho Junior's Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics, and former mayor of the capital of Paraná Rafael Greca (MDB).
In addition to Greca and Alex, senator Sergio Moro (PL) and state deputy Requião Filho (PDT) are also pre-candidates for the government of Paraná.
Moro's name has appeared ahead of possible opponents in the latest electoral surveys.
"I've been working hard for this union [of Alex with Greca]. If you want to win the election, both for those who stand for Senator Sérgio Moro's candidacy and for the candidate representing the left, for Requião Filho, there has to be unity", added Pimentel.
The Genial/Quaest survey released in April shows Moro with 35% of voting intentions in the first round, followed by state deputy Requião Filho (PDT), with 18%.
Next, Rafael Greca (MDB) appears with 15%, and Sandro Alex with 5%. Luiz França (Mission) and Tony Garcia (DC) have 1% each.
Alex has four terms as federal deputy. In the last election, he was the fifth most voted parliamentarian in Paraná for the Federal Chamber.
In March, Moro's arrival in the PL caused a mass disaffiliation of mayors from Paraná, who left the party declaring loyalty to Ratinho Junior.
