Marjorie Estiano defends her decision not to have children: "It's not for me"

Actress Marjorie Estiano, 44, said in an interview on the podcast "This Is Not An Analysis Session" that she is satisfied with her decision not to have children. She explained that her conflicting relationship with her own mother, Marilene Dias, influenced her choice. Furthermore, the actress reported that, even after rebuilding her relationship with her mother, she chose the "path of rejection".

"I never [thought about having children]. I think, perhaps because I had this more warlike environment with my mother, I said: 'I don't want to have children, it's not good, that's not cool, I don't want to have them'", declared the actress. She complemented this by talking openly about her conflicts with her mother and how therapy helped her reestablish the bond between them.

"You need to know yourself to be able to live in society, to your fullest, in your powerful place of communication and understanding", she concluded. "I think the path I took was a bit of rejection [of the maternal relationship]. I even rejected romanticism and everything that was more loving and affective in my relationships. I'm a practical, objective woman: I don't want to have children, I don't want to have descendants."

Marjorie compared the family nucleus to a Pandora's box, a type of relationship permeated by childhood addictions, projections and issues that are difficult to overcome. The actress is reserved regarding her personal life and, since 2022, has been with surgeon Márcio Maranhão, author of the book that inspired the series "Sob Pressão", in which the actress was the protagonist.
