Actor Marcos Oliveira, 70, is hospitalized in Rio de Janeiro to treat an infection.

According to a friend of the artist, who played Beiçola in "A Grande Família", he was hospitalized on Tuesday (2) at the Hospital das Clínicas in Jacarepaguá, west of Rio. Afterwards, he was transferred to Hospital São Lucas Copacabana.

"The beloved actor and friend is undergoing surgery to remove an abscess. As soon as I have news, I will update you. Today he is undergoing surgery. He was talkative as always in the pre-op", wrote fellow actress Rose Scalco, a friend of Marcos, on his social network.

She also asked the artist for prayers and positive energy. "Thank you all for your kindness."

In mid-April, the performer of the famous character in the Brazilian sitcom also underwent a surgical procedure to treat a herniated disc.

Artists' retreat
Over the years, Marcos faced financial problems and asked for financial help on social media. Since April 2025, he has lived at Retiro dos Artistas, an institution that supports artists going through difficulties.

The house on site was financed by Marieta Severo, a colleague of Marcos who acted with him in "A Grande Família" as Dona Nenê.

However, the actor has already publicly complained about the site's rules. According to him, it would be difficult to maintain intimacy and affection in the place and live with the behavior of some colleagues, which would generate discomfort.
