Marcia Lucas, ex-wife of director George Lucas and winner of the Oscar in 1978 for her work as editor in the film "Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope", has died at the age of 80.
According to "Variety" magazine, Marcia died on Wednesday (27) as a result of cancer. In a statement released by the magazine, the family mourned her death.
"Marcia will always be remembered as a brilliant storyteller, a pioneering woman in cinema. Her influence is remarkable, but those who knew her best will remember how she made life seem more full of love", says the statement.

Marcia won the Oscar in 1978 in partnership with Richard Chew and Paul Hirsch. She was also credited as an editor in "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi", in 1983.
The editor was also nominated for an award in 1974 for her work on "Summer Madness", directed by George Lucas.
Marcia and George Lucas were married in 1969 and their divorce took place in 1983, the year of her last work in the "Star Warst" saga.
In an interview with the podcast "Icons Unearthed", released in January 2026, she spoke about her feelings towards the films.
"People ask me if I miss the editing room, the editing work. Of course I miss it. I loved the work."
