Marcelo Demoliner defeats European duo and advances to Roland Garros

Brazilian tennis player Marcelo Demoliner debuted with victory in the Roland Garros doubles draw this Tuesday (26). Alongside the Indian Sriram Balaji, he defeated the German Constantin Frantzen and the Dutch Robin Haase by 2 sets to 1, with partials of 6/3, 4/6 and 6/3.

The next opponents of the partnership will come from the confrontation between the Germans Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner and the duo formed by the Argentinean Guido Andreozzi and the Frenchman Manuel Guinard. The definition will take place this Wednesday morning (27).

"Very happy with the victory. We weren't favorites and we managed to play a great match. We played at a high level, the fans pushed me a lot and made the difference for us to win. We're going in search of the round of 16 here in Paris", celebrated Demoliner, who is competing in the French Grand Slam for the ninth time in his career.

The 37-year-old from Rio Grande do Sul currently occupies 78th place in the ATP doubles rankings, in which he has already reached 34th place. His best Grand Slam campaign was the quarterfinals of the 2022 US Open.

Now, Brazil returns to the courts at Roland Garros this Wednesday, where it will be present in four matches. In the men's singles draw, João Fonseca faces Croatian Dino Prizmic at around 10:30 am (Brasília time).

In the women's doubles, Luisa Stefani and Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski face Dutch Isabelle Haverlag and British Maia Lumsden. Among the men, Orlando Luz/Rafael Matos play against Andre Goransson, from Sweden, and Evan King, from the United States, while Fernando Romboli and Australian John-Patrick Smith seek to qualify against Diego Hidalgo (Ecuador)/Patrik Trhac (United States).
