The Minas Gerais Court sentenced the man who dragged his ex-partner on the asphalt to 12 years in prison when she tried to jump out of the car and became trapped by her seat belt, in Belo Horizonte.

According to the document, the decision was taken by the Sentencing Council, which recognized that the crime was committed in a situation of domestic violence and due to the female sex.

Thus, judge Marco Antônio Silva set the penalty for attempted feminicide and for kidnapping and false imprisonment at 12 years and six months of closed prison.

The document points out that the crime was committed on August 8, 2025, in the Taquaril neighborhood, in the eastern region of Belo Horizonte.

The defendant threatened his ex-partner with a knife and forced her into the car, where he threatened her again. When they were passing in front of a Military Police unit, the victim, who works as a teacher, tried to jump out of the moving vehicle, but was stuck in the seat belt with part of his body sticking out.

The man continued driving, dragging her, which caused bruises on her body.

When she managed to jump, she screamed for help and was supported by the agents. A criminal police officer who was passing through the area chased the man, who fled on foot into a forested area, but ended up being captured.

In addition to the violence caused by her ex-partner, the victim also suffered professional losses. The teacher's colleagues also filed a complaint with Belo Horizonte City Hall stating that her presence at the municipal school where she works would create danger for students and staff, as the accused knew her place of work. The professional had to stay away from her duties for 15 days, facing stigma and insecurity.
