Man arrested after trying to kill sausage raffle winner in ES

A 47-year-old man was arrested this Saturday (27), after trying to kill the winner of a draw for a piece of sausage. The crime occurred on Friday night (26) in the São Marcos neighborhood, in Marilândia, Espírito Santo.

According to PCES (Civil Police of Espírito Santo), the arrest was carried out by the DP (Police Station) of Marilândia, in an integrated action with PMES (Military Police of Espírito Santo), in the municipality of João Neiva, while the suspect tried to escape.

The attempted murder was reportedly motivated by an argument between the perpetrator and the victim, which began during a gathering at a business. The 53-year-old victim won a piece of sausage in a draw held by the establishment, which angered the suspect.

"At the time of delivery, the suspect began to argue with the victim and, during the disagreement, family members of those involved also intervened. The situation evolved into physical aggression and, after being hit with a slap in the face, the person being investigated left the scene and looked for a firearm in his vehicle", said police chief Landulpho Lintz, head of the Marilândia PD.

After taking the gun from his car, the suspect fired more than once in the direction of the raffle winner and started chasing the car he was in, but the man managed to escape without being hit.

The chief states that the suspect put the integrity of other people at risk, as there were others present at the time of the shooting, including children.

To find the suspect, the Civil Police shared information with the Military Police, who set up a tactical siege on the region's highways.

The suspect tried to escape and was located on BR-101, near the Cohab neighborhood, in the municipality of João Neiva. After being arrested, he indicated the place where he had hidden the weapon used. The loaded .38 caliber revolver was seized by the police, as well as other ammunition of the same caliber. The items were sent to forensics.

The man was taken to the Marilândia PD, where he was charged with attempted qualified homicide for a base motive. After carrying out the necessary procedures, he was taken to the CDP (Provisional Detention Center) of Colatina, where he remains at the disposal of the Justice.
